Meg Winch has developed and managed national training programs for firms across the United States. We use her expertise in the design of curricula in a full range of topics. We’ve helped organizations design and document programs in executive leadership, communication skills, project management, and performance management.
We also design technical training by working with internal resources to document and turn content into teachable concepts and illustrations. Our focus is on designing programs that can be taught by others through clear outlines, instructors’ guides, and handouts. We help teams develop clear learning objectives and then achieve them through well-written and presented training. Our recent programs for a local contractor on Project Close-out, the Submittal Process, and Document Control now serve as the basis for all project engineer training across the organization.
We’re very well known for our scenario-based training, creating realistic examples and illustrations to help participants learn. We know that adults learn best through example and hands-on learning, so we design training programs that reinforce skills through realistic project and program-level scenarios with relevant activities. Our programs are based on a thorough understanding of the topic, coordination with internal and external subject matter experts, clear documentation, the inclusion of relevant activities and examples, and easy-to-implement guides and resources to help in-house instructors.
We also help our clients create framework programs to help them procure training consulting services to best serve the interests of their organizations – from finding the best trainers (or thinkers) in a particular industry to helping those trainers document their work. We even recommend ways to get best value through training agreements with professionals in the field.
We developed the project management programs based on PMI guidelines for King County and Bellevue Community College. And, we designed King County’s well-received train-the-trainer program to create internal trainers who can develop and implement specific programs in their own departments and divisions. We designed a Corporate University for a major national contractor, including a senior leadership program and comprehensive training in project management and communication skills for participants at all levels of the organization. And, we’ve designed Executive Leadership Programs for two national contractors to support their internal succession planning processes.
We’ve had the opportunity to develop training with leaders from national design firms. Our “Effective Presentations by Design” program was used as a training model for a national design leader who provided resources to design the scenario project – and the president of their company became a team trainer with Meg Winch. Traveling around the country to provide this training at each of their locations showed real commitment to the process!
We partnered with the King Conservation District and King County to design a comprehensive training on nearshore armoring in Puget Sound. This training program included speakers and participants from cities in WRIA 9, Ecology, the USACE, and the Puget Sound Partnership. We also designed a new employee orientation program for the Washington State Liquor Control board on selling responsibly – as parents and drivers, we thoroughly believe in the concepts taught in this incredibly important program.
We’re currently designing a very timely program for the Washington Military Department, Emergency Management Division, on business resiliency to support businesses facing flooding and other natural disasters. This program will be a model for communities in their preparedness planning to help businesses be up and running after an incident.
“When Meg and Kristina started working with us, I was expecting the usual vanilla sort of training package that I've seen over the years. Thankfully, I was proven wrong. Meg and Kristina worked directly with our supervisory staff to create a program that was tailored specifically to our staff's needs and challenges."
Jon Scherer, King County Records and Licensing Division
"Events such as these are successful because of the combination of skill, knowledge, and enthusiasm brought to bear. In every respect, I could count on Meg and her staff to bring the right combination of resources to achieve a very high set of expectations.”
